Our 1st XI cricketers were able to reflect on a pleasing year at their annual awards evening last week.
From 16 fixtures across the season, Worth won seven, drew four and lost five. Two of those five defeats came in prestige fixtures against an MCC XI and Sussex Martlets.
One of the highlights of the season was a school record T20 partnership of an unbroken 185 for the first wicket in a cup match against Christ’s Hospital in June. The two batsmen, Anish and Jacob, were among the award winners last Thursday.
Awards went to: Best Batsman – Anish; Best Bowler – Jacob; Best Fielder – Ollie; Player of the Year – Jacob; Cap – Jacob, Anish and Mali; Half-colours – Ollie, Alice, Manu and Oscar.
Cricket at Worth is run by former first-class player Mr Raj Chaudhuri.
