Prizes for our seventh annual Classics Essay Competition for Latinists in Years 8 and 9 have been presented, along with the Classics Cup for the winning entry.
This competition is held every year at Worth and the prizes presented were from the 2021-22 academic year. Year 9 pupils are asked to write a 1,500-word essay on a classical topic of their choice and there was a wide variety of entries on both Greek and Roman topics. The winning entry focused on ‘Roman gods and religion’.
Year 8 pupils visit Fishbourne Roman Palace, a 100-room villa near Chichester, and then are tasked with producing a 1,000-word project advertising and selling this unique property as it was 2,000 years ago. Overall, the standard of entries for both year groups was extremely high.
Congratulations to all our prize winners.
