Drama thrives at Worth and our pupils entertained audiences over three nights with a charming production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in the Performing Arts Centre last week.
The most pleasing aspect of this show was the level of student involvement. As well as the excellent cast, a ‘student creative team’ took on the roles of assistant director, costume assistant, assistant stage manager, backstage crew responsible for sound and lighting, and front of house attendants.
The production, directed by Drama teacher Mr Matthew Wellman, was an exciting interpretation of a classic story, bringing a contemporary relevance to the play, and it featured original music and a custom-built set as the PAC was transformed into the enchanting world of Narnia.
Shows at Worth are widely regarded to be outstanding. This was the second major production of the year after our senior students performed Little Shop of Horrors in December, while our third show of the academic year will be the Junior School production of Hogwartz in the Summer Term. In addition, our Drama scholars put on a performance of The Crucible earlier in the Lent Term.
