Celebrating World Book Day 2025

Thu, Mar 6th, 2025
Worth School

Students have been celebrating World Book Day by taking part in a series of initiatives and competitions to promote the joy of reading.

World Book Day, which was first held in 1997, is an annual celebration in more than 100 countries across the world.

Among the various initiatives for different year groups at Worth this year were competitions to design a new book cover for a student’s favourite book, plus the opportunity to design a book token, with prizes on offer for the best submissions. Entries were posted on the wall display in the English corridor.

Meanwhile, students and staff across the School were encouraged to take part in an ‘extreme reading challenge’, submitting a picture of themselves reading a book somewhere extreme. Pictures were then made into a display in the library to mark this special day.

Students were also given World Book Day tokens to put towards buying a book of their choice from a bookshop.

At Worth we recognise the importance of reading and this was a good opportunity to reinforce messages promoted throughout the academic year.
