Students celebrated languages and diversity on Friday by taking part in European Day of Languages activities, quizzes and discussions during lessons.

The European Day of Languages is an annual event, celebrated on 26 September, which provides an opportunity to celebrate diversity and to highlight the importance of learning languages in today’s world.

Mrs Maria Molinero, Head of Modern Foreign Languages and Spanish, said: “At Worth we are delighted to celebrate the European Day of Languages, a day that reminds us of the rich diversity of languages and cultures across Europe and beyond. Language learning is not just about grammar and vocabulary; it is a gateway to understanding different perspectives, fostering respect and building connections in an increasingly globalised world.

“We recognise the value of multilingualism, both in broadening opportunities for our students and in strengthening cultural awareness within our community. I encourage everyone to embrace the challenge of learning a new language, to celebrate the ones they already know and to appreciate the beauty and power of communication in all its forms.”

At Worth, we are very fortunate to study, work and live alongside people whose native language is not English. Each member of the Worth community brings a life of different experiences and perspectives from which we can all learn.
