Worth’s Senior Debating Society concluded another successful external competition season by appearing in the English-Speaking Union Regional Debating Final for the first time in the School’s history.
Six schools had made it through to the regional final, with only one place up for grabs at the national finals. Worth’s team were the opposition to the motion ‘This house believes the UK Government to pay reparations to its former colonies’ and although our team debated extremely well, we lost to Mayfield Grammar School who were the team to progress to the finals.
Debating has become a real strength at Worth in the last couple of years and we are proud of what the Senior Debating Society has achieved this year.
The next event in the debating calendar will be the All-Star debate with Year 13 students facing up to a team of teachers.
