Celebrating an excellent year for cricket

Worth School

An excellent year for cricket at Worth was celebrated at the annual 1st XI awards evening last Thursday.

Worth ran 20 representative teams during the 2022-23 academic year, including a 1st XI girls’ team for the first time. We were also proud to be named among the 100 top schools for cricket in the United Kingdom for a fifth year in succession.

The 1st XI – which encompasses boys and girls – played nine fixtures throughout the year, winning five which was a pleasing return from a challenging fixtures programme which included an annual game against an MCC XI. Four of the wins were by 10 wickets and the other by 101 runs, which was impressive as Worth fielded a particularly young 1st XI this year.

At the awards evening last week presentations were made to the Player of Year, Best Batter, Best Bowler and Best All-rounder, while Colours and Half Colours were also presented. Many congratulations to all our winners.
