Many congratulations to Year 10 pupil Ben for being named as runner-up in the Henry Williamson Writing Competition, which is a national competition for schools.
This prestigious competition is held every two years and the theme for the delayed 2020 competition was ‘Nature, Environment and Conservation’. Ben was encouraged to enter the competition by his English teachers at Worth and his poem titled ‘The Trees are Talking’ was chosen as the runner-up from entries from all over the country.
Ben said of his work: “I wrote this poem in response to how many woodlands are being destroyed in the UK for building projects. It makes me feel very sad to see these beautiful woodlands vanish from our countryside.”
