Students have received certificates from Head Master Mr Stuart McPherson in recognition of winning awards at a Model United Nations conference last month.
Worth sent a team of 13 students, representing Years 7 to 13, to compete at the annual Lingfield College MUN conference in December and it proved to be the most successful competition yet for the School with five students claiming awards.
In assembly last week, Mr McPherson made presentations to the students who won one ‘Distinguished’ award and four ‘Commended’ between them. The other students attending the conference were also congratulated for the way they performed.
Mr Will Warwick, who is our Gifted and Talented Coordinator, runs Model United Nations at Worth. He said after the conference in December: “It really is an impressive achievement because each of the committees have 30 or 40 delegates and only three in each will get an award. Your students can do really well and still come away with nothing.”
MUN conferences are a simulation of the United Nations for pupils in schools and higher education. They provide a great opportunity to develop research skills and public speaking abilities. Worth encourages students to join our thriving Model United Nations Society.
