Another great cup run ends

Worth School

It was not to be for our U15A boys but they did themselves and the School proud in reaching the quarter-finals of the National Bowl in what has been a memorable year for rugby at Worth.

The 2024-25 academic year has seen two Worth rugby teams reach the last eight of national competitions, which is a first for the School. In addition, 1st XV player Felix Bateman-Champain has become a regular in the England U18 side while team-mate Tate Williams has been impressing for Harlequins U18s.

In December, our 1st XV reached the quarter-finals of the National Vase and our U15A boys followed suit when they won their area final against St Olave’s Grammar School, Kent, last month.

Their run ended yesterday afternoon with a 39-7 defeat against a strong and disciplined Plymouth College side at Horsham Rugby Club. Worth were still in the contest at half-time after Ethan scored a try to make the score 12-7 at the interval, but Plymouth ultimately ran out worthy winners and we wish them the best in the semi-finals.

Here is a selection of pictures from the match.

Congratulations to our U15A boys on their run to the quarter-finals.

Rugby is far from over for Worth this academic year as we are now in the rugby sevens season and we look forward to sending boys’ teams and a girls’ team to the Rosslyn Park National Sevens in March.
