Students enjoyed another fascinating talk in the Spencer Lecture Series last Friday as Dr Duncan Pring spoke about the Maya civilisation.
Dr Pring, a former Worth teacher and Head of Careers, is considered an expert on the Maya. Having worked as an archaeologist before moving into teaching, he was involved in a number of significant digs in the region and his book ‘The Protoclassic in Maya Lowlands’ is a detailed analysis of the archaeological and ceramic evidence for the transitional period between the Preclassic and Classic ages.
The Spencer Lecture Series is one element of our enrichment programme at Worth. The series provides our Sixth Form students and Year 11 scholars with a broad range of thought-provoking talks on a variety of subjects. As well as being open to students, it is also open to parents as long as they register their attendance in advance.
