A fascinating Art and Photography trip to Pallant House, Chichester, and The Goodwood Art Foundation allowed students to explore how ‘setting shapes meaning’ by viewing indoor galleries and outdoor installations.
Year 12 Fine Art A Level students focused on the theme of transitions in art, from portraits and sculpture to sound installations, while Year 12 IB Diploma Visual Arts students explored how identity is expressed through portraiture, materials and space, while also studying the different contexts and environments in which artists exhibit their work.
Meanwhile, Year 11 Photography students had the opportunity to apply their skills during the visit, capturing images to support their coursework and deepen their creative responses.
The trip concluded with sketchbook reflections and a homework task encouraging students to connect the day’s experiences with their own artistic practice.
Overall, the trip was a valuable opportunity for students to engage deeply with art, context and personal expression.
