Ambition & Innovation

Worth School

Worth is an academically ambitious school. We promote intellectual curiosity by making connections between subjects and ideas, and we encourage intellectual risk-taking. The classroom is an exciting place to be: our teaching and learning is research-driven and experimental, we adopt a hybrid approach of tradition and innovation, using technology alongside pen and paper, and we reject educational fads and look for what really works.

What makes Worth unique is that our academic success is centred on our ethos: an education of heart and soul which encourages all Worth pupils to think of their education not just in terms of their results or careers but also their contribution to the world through service to others, and building community and stewardship of the Earth.

    Junior (Ages 11 - 13)

Worth Junior is Year 7 (age 11+) and Year 8 (age 12+). The earliest point of entry to Worth is at Year 7 for boys and girls. This is the natural point of entry for those moving on from their maintained sector primary schools but an increasing number are now joining from independent Prep schools.

    Middle (Ages 13 - 16)

The Middle School incorporates Years 9 to 11 (ages 13 to 16). All pupils follow GCSE/IGCSE courses from Year 10 and have a very broad spectrum of subjects to choose from. A Pre-IB one-year GCSE course is available to prepare non-UK pupils (age 15+) for the IB Diploma in the Sixth Form.

    Pre-IB (Age 15/16)

The one-year fast track GCSE/IGCSE Pre-IB programme enables pupils to enter Worth at Year 11 (age 15+). This will ideally suit pupils who may recently have had disrupted GCSE teaching, or who have been attending schools outside the UK, to complete the core GCSEs before progressing to either complete A Levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

    Sixth (Ages 16 - 18)

Worth is one of the few UK schools to offer a choice of curricula in Years 12 and 13, allowing students either to work towards the International Baccalaureate Diploma or to study for A Levels.

The Worth Sixth Form gives students an education in the broadest sense in offering outstanding academic results and a challenging academic formation; a huge range of arts, sports and wider-curricular activities; a lecture programme and social events; personal, social and spiritual development. It is a genuine pre-university experience that only a co-educational, forward-thinking school can offer.

    Beyond the Classroom

The wider curriculum represents a substantial part of the educational experience of Worth pupils. Myriad opportunities for academic enrichment exist outside of the classroom in the School’s academic societies, lecture programmes, departmental trips and visits.
