A moving performance from Schola Cantorum

Worth School

Our Schola Cantorum’s annual performance of Gabriel Fauré’s much loved Requiem was a moving affair in the Abbey Church last Thursday.

There is a long-standing tradition at Worth of the choir performing this work each year during November to mark the season of Remembrance, which is also being marked through Wednesday Worship both last week and this week, as well as Monday’s Remembrance Day Service.

The choir gave a moving performance of Fauré’s setting of the Requiem text, which provides music of great beauty and quiet contemplation interspersed with an occasional outburst of restrained emotion. This provided a moment of reflection for those members of the School and wider community present to remember those close to them who have passed away.

Our pictures are from rehearsals before the start.
