Sixth Form History students had the opportunity to visit Auschwitz and Krakow during the recent exeat weekend, providing them with valuable first-hand insight to complement and deepen their studies of the Holocaust.
The visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau was understandably a deeply moving and sobering experience. It provided students with an important opportunity to engage with this significant period of history, while taking time to reflect on the experiences and suffering of those affected by the Holocaust.
The historic city of Krakow offered a contrasting experience, with its culture and architecture. Students enjoyed a walking tour of Krakow Old Town, visited the Jewish Quarter and went to Schindler’s Factory Museum. There was also a visit to Wieliczka salt mines.
