With a number of fundraising initiatives planned for 2025 including a staff member running the London Marathon, Worth is delighted to continue to support the charity Mary’s Meals.
Mary’s Meals runs programmes in 19 countries where poverty and hunger often prevent children from gaining an education. By providing children with one meal every day they attend school, the charity offers young people hope and, through education, a possible route out of poverty.
It costs £19.15 to feed a child for a whole school year and since 2017 Worth has been raising enough money to ensure every child at the Farsee Korma Public School in Liberia gets a nourishing meal every day they attend school.
Such was the generosity of the Worth community in 2023 and 2024 that we were also able to fund a feeding programme at the Chibale Primary School in Chipata, Zambia, providing a meal of porridge every day for the 218 children at the school.
Headteacher Ivean Zulu said: “What an amazing programme the school feeding is. It has helped us bring learners from the villages around and has equally seen us get attendance that is very stable, with leaders coming consistently because of the porridge. Most of them come here because they want something to eat.”
In April, Worth’s Head of Performance Mr Tom Wilkinson will be taking part in the 2025 London Marathon to highlight how running can help mental health, as well as raising money for Mary’s Meals.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our fundraising. Our pictures show the children at Chibale saying thank you and the Headteacher Ivean Zulu.
