Can the Worth boys dance? They certainly can. The streets of 1950s America came to Worth with the whole school production of West Side Story, which was vibrant, atmospheric and colourful. With terrific music to support a strong cast and some great dancing, the three-night show really was a hit, juxtaposing the December production of Romeo & Juliet. Pictures by Emma Duggan.
With an opening scene that made a real impact, the senior school production of Romeo & Juliet was simply outstanding. The production was a classic story told in a modern way; it was Shakespeare but with a different approach. Set in the future, with costumes and sets to reflect that, the language was traditional but the staging was refreshingly colourful with plenty of humour. Enjoy a selection of pictures by Emma Duggan from the production.
The Sound of Music was a production full of colour and character in May 2016. The Sound of Music is based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers. It was also particularly special for the school due to its historical connections. The engineer Robert Whitehead, inventor of the Whitehead torpedo, lived at Worth during the 19th century. His granddaughter, Agathe Whitehead, was the first wife of Georg von Trapp and mother of the children who were looked after by Maria following her death.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a school production in March 2016. It was another tremendous effort by the production team and cast.
